By Doug Barrett Jun 11, 2022 | 11:38 AM

After 49 days the Red River dropped below flood stage in Grand Forks / East Grand Forks on Friday night.

The National Weather Service says the river slipped below 28 feet around 9:45 p.m.  The last time the “Red” was below that mark was on April 23rd.

Several rain events kept the river over flood stage during the extended period.  The NWS says it was the 2nd wettest March-April-May period at the GFK since 1893 with 12.84 inches of precipitation.

The river should drop below flood stage in Drayton and Pembina by mid-week.
