LISTEN Center holds ribbon cutting ceremony

By Doug Barrett Jun 10, 2022 | 7:40 AM

Work crews were putting the final touches on the new LISTEN Center building right up until Thursday’s ribbon cutting ceremony at the facility at 2100 South Washington Street in Grand Forks.

LISTEN is a nonprofit organization that strives to provide services for people with intellectual disabilities to help them live independently as possible. The nonprofit began modestly in the churches of Grand Forks in the fall of 1970. They purchased the current property in March 2020. The new 35,865 square foot building will place all of LISTEN’s programs under one roof.

Previously the LISTEN Drop In operated for three decades out of a much smaller building at 624 North Washington. That property is currently for sale.

The two day event continues today with live music…tours…and an evening dance.
