Grand Forks County will conduct a public survey about possibly changing the county’s local government from Statutory Rule to Home Rule.
Home Rule would give the county more leeway on adopting laws and policies – and open up new potential revenue streams like a local sales tax.
The survey begins Friday (June 10th) and runs until July 6th.
The public can access the survey online at GFCsurvey.org … Paper copies are also available at the County Office Building.
The confidential survey takes about five minutes to complete.
All county residents will be mailed information on the issue around mid-June.
A community town hall is scheduled for 5:30 pm on June 16th, at Red River High School.
The county needs money, since two correctional centers are strained by aging and occupancy issues… and the Sheriff’s Office must find a new home.
