Gas prices hit new record highs

By Doug Barrett Jun 6, 2022 | 9:09 AM

Gas prices in North Dakota continue to set new record highs. According to the latest Triple-A Fuel Survey the going rate nationwide is $4.87 a gallon.

North Dakota’s average is $4.54 cents. That compares to $2.85 one year ago. Some stations in Grand Forks are as high as $4.59 today.
Minnesota’s average is $4.58.

What’s causing prices to spike? Patrick DeHaan of GasBuddy says there are many issues driving prices.  “It is not just the Russian invasion of Ukraine. It is not just the reduction of refining capacity, it’s that we’re also dealing with a charged economy. We’re not seeing supply go up enough. And we’re not seeing demand drop enough.”

Some experts say if motorists don’t dent their driving we could see averages of $5 dollars in the next month or so.
