The Memorial Day holiday weekend turned out to be a dangerous one on North Dakota Highways. Fatality crashes around the state claimed at least five lives and left others injured.

Two motorcyclists from Wyndmere were killed when the motorcycle they were on was rear-ended by the driver of a pickup east of Lidgerwood on Saturday. The driver of the pickup fled the scene on foot and was later apprehended. He was identified as 41-year-old Roberto Eguiza of South Dakota. The cyclists were identified as 45-year-old Corey Volesky, the driver, and a passenger, 40-year=old Amber Volesky. Neither was wearing a helmet.

A 35-year old Fargo man crashed into the back of a crop sprayer on Highway 31 south of Raleigh (ND) on Saturday. Brandon Cermak was pronounced dead at Sanford Hospital in Bismarck.

A 42 year old man from Ryder (ND) was killed in an end-over-end crash Friday morning west of Douglas (ND).
