Grand Forks police have identified the body of a man found Tuesday in a north side apartment as 67-year old Douglas Elgert. Authorities have classified the death of the Grand Forks man as a homicide. Investigators say Elgert suffered “injuries leading investigators to classify the incident as a homicide.”
In a related development the GFPD says 39-year old man has been charged with tampering with evidence in relation to the case. Kindi Jalloh appeared in court on the charge this morning. A preliminary hearing is set for June 27th.
Police were called to a residence on the 1200 block of North 39th Street shortly before 10:00 a.m. for an unattended death.
Investigators have not released a lot of details about the incident -except to say it does not appear to be a random act and there is no known danger to the public.
