MCI to close Pembina plant

By Doug Barrett May 20, 2022 | 12:56 PM

Motor Coach Industries is pulling out of Pembina. In a letter to city officials parent company New Flyer Industries says they plan to phase out the operations by the end of the year. The plant employs over 200 workers. It first opened in 1963.
The letter cited difficulty in finding quality employees…the plant’s location…and the company’s plan to begin the conversion to electric buses.
