It’s a day of drying out after heavy rains pounded the region last night (Thursday). The storm system resulted in the National Weather Service issuing a handful of Watches and Warnings throughout the evening.
The downpour prompted the City of Grand Forks to ask residents to limit water use for 24 hours to help minimize impacts to the wastewater collection system. Emerado and Manvel made similar requests.
High winds tipped a pair of semis near Alexandria…wind were clocked at 73 mph near Fergus Falls…tree branches were blown down in Breckenridge…and one inch hail was measured near Valley City.
A narrow band of rain in excess of two inches fell from near Emerado to the Finley area. The NWS office in Grand Forks measured 1.48 inches as of midnight.

The Red River in Grand Forks / East Grand Forks is expected to remain around 41 feet through much of next week. Flood stage is 28. Oslo will stay above the major flood stage mark of 35 feet for the next seven days.
Many ditches are full of water. On Thursday the Grand Forks Sheriff’s Department reported the 4200 block of 15th Avenue Northeast in rural Larimore was closed due to a large washout.
