North Dakota will cut the number of available hunting licenses for the 2022 deer gun season by 8,000. The state game and fish department announced today that 64,200 licenses will be issued this fall.
Total deer licenses are determined by harvest rates…aerial surveys…depredation reports…hunter observations…and advisory board meetings.
Wildlife Chief Casey Anderson says Epizootic hemorrhagic disease…or EHD…dramatically reduced white-tailed deer numbers along the Missouri River and parts of some western hunting units. As a result license allocations in some units were dramatically reduced.
North Dakota’s 2022 deer gun season opens November 4 at noon and continues through the 20th.
