GFPD squad damaged in crash, 3 treated for injuries (Update)

Grand Forks police have identified a police officer and three other people involved in a crash between a GFPD squad and a passenger car last (Tue) night.

The vehicles collided at the intersection of Columbia Road and Gateway Drive around 8:00 p.m.

Police reports say Officer Nicholas Fladland was traveling east on Gateway responding to a theft in progress call at the Rock Bottle Shop. A 2008 Ford Mustang was heading north on Columbia.

The accident injured Fladland and a civilian ride-along in the patrol car, identified as 20-year-old Sarah Hall of Grand Forks.

The driver of the car, 23-year-old Tylar Williamson of Thief River Falls, was injured. His brother, 28-year-old Sean Williamson, was a passenger and refused medical attention at the scene.

Police say Fladland, Hall and Tylar Williamson were transported to Altru with non-life-threatening injuries, treated and released.

The intersection was closed to traffic for two hours while the scene was cleared.

Police say no charges have been forwarded at this time. All four occupants were wearing seat belts.

Grand Forks police have released additional details into a crash involving a GFPD squad and a passenger car last night.

Authorities now say a total of four people were injured when the two vehicles collided at the intersection of Columbia Road and Gateway Drive around 8:00 p.m. According to police reports the officer was traveling east on Gateway responding to a theft in progress call at the Rock Bottle Shop. A driver of a 2008 Ford Mustang was heading north on Columbia.

The accident injured the officer and a civilian ride along in the patrol car – as well as the driver of the Mustang and a passenger. All were transported to Altru Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The intersection was closed to traffic for two hours while the scene was cleared and members of the Grand Forks Crash Analysis and Reconstruction Team conducted their investigation. No names have been released at this time.

Three people were injured in a two vehicle crash in north Grand Forks tonight.  According to Grand Forks police an officer on an emergency call crashed with a passenger car at the intersection of Gateway Drive and Columbia Road.  The officer and two individuals in the car were transported to Altru Hospital with unknown injuries. The intersection was closed to traffic until the scene was cleared and the accident reconstruction team conducted an investigation.
