Spring storm dumps heavy snow across ND

By Doug Barrett Apr 13, 2022 | 8:31 AM

No Travel Advised across much of North Dakota this morning thanks to a storm system that has dumped a foot of snow – with more on the way.

The heavy wet stuff cancelled school in Grand Forks and East Grand Forks. UND and NCTC have closed their campuses for the day. Grand Forks…East Grand Forks…and Grand Forks County government agencies are down with the exception of essential personnel. The storm even closed I-29 from Fargo to the Canadian border overnight.  That stretch along with U>S> west out of Grand Forks re-opened this morning.

The National Weather service is reporting 11.7 inches of snow as of this morning. The Grand Forks Airport picked up 13.  The NWS says 10 to 15 inches of snow is common throughout the region.

The only area not under a Travel Alert is the extreme southeast corner of the state.  Additional snowfall is expected through Thursday.
