The Grand Forks School District will release a Request for Qualifications tomorrow (Wednesday) for architectural services to develop a new Valley Middle School.
Superintendent Terry Brenner told school board members last night that unlike the failed 2021 referendum new build will be for grades 6…7…and 8 only. “We would want the architect to work with us hand in hand relative to types of programs would be in the facility…traffic study of the area…renderings.”
Last week the school board opted not to place a $55 million dollar bond issue on the ballot in June noting that more time is needed before making the “ask” of taxpayers. Brenner says the R-F-Q requests more than just renderings of the building. “Pre-referendum services like marketing…messaging…and communications.”
The project will also include a Child Nutrition addition at the Mark Sanford Education Center.
The school board is expected to approve the selection at its May 23rd meeting.
