Program to help GF homeowners with aging water lines

By Doug Barrett Mar 31, 2022 | 8:14 AM

Grand Forks may tap into a $375,000 North Dakota revolving loan program to help homeowners replace lead service water lines.

Water Works Director Melanie Parvey told council members this week the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund program would cover a big chunk of the replacement bill.  “We have initial approval for the state revolving loan program – we were encouraged to put in the application. This loan is a 90% forgiveness loan for the homeowner.”

It’s estimated there are as many as 1,300 residents with lead service lines in Grand Forks. Details of the program are still being finalized.
