GF council odds and ends

Grand Forks will hire CPS for construction engineering services on the reconstruction of North 4th Street from DeMers Avenue to 1st Avenue North.  The contract exceeds $248,000 dollars.  The project itself is pegged at $2.3 million dollars.  Federal funding will cover some $1.6 million of the bill.

Riverside Pool will get a new paint job before the start of the 2022 swimming season. The city council on Monday gave the go ahead to spend $75,000 dollars to sandblast and paint the north side swimming hole. A few weeks ago city leaders were informed that larger repairs will be needed in the next 3 -to-5 years to fix leaking pipes and underlying concrete issues.

The Grand Forks council gave a first reading this week to the ordinance regulating beekeeping in town. The health department says over the years they have fielded calls from concerned citizens about beekeeping. Violators could lose their permit and be charged with public nuisance. Permits will expire at the end of each calendar year.
