NDUS reviews campus cases of COVID

By Doug Barrett Jan 28, 2022 | 8:17 AM

The North Dakota University system reports over 500 active cases of COVID-19 among students and staff this week.

UND Med School Dean Joshua Wynne says one positive is that Omicron appears less severe than previous variants of the disease.  Wynne told members of the North Dakota Board of Higher Education that the rapid spread of the illness is still putting a strain on the health care system.  “The Omicron variant is so infectious a lot of our health care workers are out sick.  In some places if can be a quarter to a third of the workforce.”

Wynne says the emotional toll of the pandemic has had on students and the general public remains very real.

North Dakota’s active case count is 7,793.
