Storm impacts travel in ND & MN

The latest winter storm has brought a variety of weather related warnings and advisories to the region.  Grand Forks and Polk County are under a Winter Storm Warning until 6 PM.

Eddy-Nelson-Griggs-Steele-Barnes-Ransom-Sargent- are dealing with a Blizzard Warning.  I-29 remains closed border to border….and US 2 west out of Grand Forks is also shut down.

The NWS office in Grand Forks measured 6.3 inches of new snow as of 7:00 a.m.  Fargo picked up 6.7 inches.

Plows are out in the Grand Forks area.

Schools are out for the holiday break shortening the delayed opening and closure list.  UND has a delayed opening until 10 am…..NCTC has closed its campus today.

The City of East Grand Forks declared a snow emergency at midnight.  The emergency shall remain in effect until all streets have been cleared to their full width.

During a snow emergency there is no parking allowed on City streets. Vehicles parked on the street during a snow emergency are subject to ticketing and towing.

No Travel Advisory was issued at noon for Grand Forks…Pembina…Steele…and Walsh.   All roads in NW MN are snow covered.

I-29 from Grand Forks to Canadian border and Highway 2 reopen…I-29 remains closed from Grand Forks to the South Dakota border, as well as Highway 13 between I-29 and Wahpeton and I-94 from Fargo to Bismarck.
