East Grand Forks Senior High is temporarily transitioning to distance learning for the rest of this week.
Superintendent Mike Kolness says close to 200 students are absent at the high school today (Tue).
He says officials have “received several reports of Influenza-A cases and a very small number of COVID-related cases.”
Kolness says there’s “a need to have students stay home and get healthy if they are sick.”
He says the number of absent students at the other three buildings is much smaller… and the district hopes to continue with normal operations in all of them.
Kolness says the situation will be re-evaluated at the end of the week.

Letter from Mike Kolness:
Good afternoon EGF Families and Staff Members,
The reason for this correspondence is to notify families and staff members about a temporary
transition to distance learning at the Senior HS for the remainder of this week. Close to 200
students are absent at the SH today and there is a need to have students stay home and get
healthy if they are sick. We have received several reports of Influenza A cases and a very small
number of COVID related cases.
The number of absent students at the other three buildings is much smaller and we are hoping to
continue with normal operations in all of them. This temporary transition is ONLY for GRADES
9-12. Information related to Senior High School activities will be communicated to everyone as
soon as possible.
Please continue to monitor the health of your children and keep them home when sick. We have
seen a significant increase in the number of student absences due to illness and want to take
whatever steps are necessary to keep everyone healthy. The Senior HS temporary transition to
distance learning will run through Friday, December 17, 2021 and be re-evaluated at the end of the
week. Please feel free to contact the SH office or me if you have any questions or concerns.
