East Grand Forks has been awarded a grant of $851,768 to fund a $1.26 million project for LaFave Park enhancements.
Twenty-five percent of the project, or $292,811, will be a local match from the city of East Grand Forks.
Funds will help the city build a new boat access on the Red River, improve roads, and parking lots in the park.
It was one of 20 grants announced by the Greater Minnesota Regional Parks and Trail Commission… which asks the Legislature to approve its recommendations through the Parks and Trails Legacy Fund.
Once approved by the state Legislature, funds will become available after July 1, 2022.
Construction is expected to begin in 2022 or 2023.
