It’s a day of digging out for much of the Red River Valley after Sunday’s blizzard.
The storm system has forcing many schools to start two hours late today – including Grand Forks and East Grand Forks. No Travel was advised in much of northeast North Dakota (The advisory has now been lifted). I-29 was closed from the South Dakota to the Canadian border overnight (I-29 has reopened). MnDOT reported roads northwest Minnesota were snow covered.
Power went down for a portion of Grand Forks last night for several hours. At one point the North Dakota outage page had Nodak Electric with over 1,500 customers impacted in Grand Forks County.
The National Weather Service office in Grand Forks measured 7.9 inches of snow as of midnight.
