Supporters of bringing a Career Impact Academy to Grand Forks are putting the final touches on a grant application to attract $10 million dollars in state funding. As K-N-O-X News reported last week the Steering Committee has raised nearly $10.3 million dollars in matching money. The deadline to make application to the state is coming up on Wednesday.
So far, donors include over 75 businesses, individuals, foundations, as well as Grand Forks Public Schools, City of Grand Forks, Grand Forks County, the Grand Forks/East Grand Forks Chamber of Commerce, and the Grand Forks Region EDC.
Once operational, the Career Impact Academy will offer career programming to both high school and adult learners.
The staffing levels needed for CIA is projected to be 16 full-time members. Grand Forks Public Schools already employ 12 of the positions.
The North Dakota Department of CTE supports 40 % of program costs. That percentage increases for each school district participating in program offerings. Current member school districts include: Central Valley, Thompson, Hatton, Northwood, Larimore, Hillsboro, May-Port CG, and Grand Forks.
