GF health officials ready for Nashville travelers

By Doug Barrett Oct 15, 2021 | 1:20 PM

Roughly half off all eligible Grand Forks County residents have not been fully vaccinated.  Health officials say the rate of COVID-19 per 100,000 population has hit a plateau since the first week in September.  The health department’s Michael Dulitz says they still need to boost vaccinations among the 19 to 29 age group – which totals some 18,000 in population.  “In that age group the vaccination rate is around 39%.  Most other age groups are above 60%…older age groups 80 to 90.”

Grand Forks Health Director Debbie Swanson says the department will stand up testing on October 27th and 28th to accommodate fans heading to the Hockey Hall of Fame game in Nashville.  Swanson says there is a bit of positive news in regards to those planning to attend the event.  “We did hear today that 80% of the participants from this area are vaccinated for travel.”

Grand Forks has been in the orange or high risk for COVID transmission for 49 consecutive days.
