The North Dakota Industrial Commission has agreed to fund the next phase of a study to expand the Red River Biorefinery Ag-Park in Grand Forks to the tune of $500,000 dollars.
It’s a $4.3 million dollar analysis to develop a low carbon wheat processing facility…a plant based protein facility…wastewater management…and a biomass power system adjacent to its current operation in north Grand Forks.
Commerce Commissioner James Leiman says the project meets a number of long term state goals. “To complete the design for the scaling up of this facility and help them market their products. It’s a place for us to take waste and convert to a viable product and it contributes to a better carbon score.”
An Industrial Commission staff report puts the cost estimate on the project at $152 million dollars.
