
Crookston police say a pedestrian died when he was struck by a train this (Thu) afternoon in the downtown area.
The accident happened at around 2:00 PM, when the 28-year-old Crookston man was walking southbound on tracks behind a gas station at 411 South Main Street.
Police say the southbound train sounded its horn, but the man did not respond… and was struck from behind.
The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family.

At approximately 2 PM today, September 23rd, 2021, Polk County Dispatch was advised
that a pedestrian had been struck by a train behind 411 North Main Street. The
preliminary investigation indicates the incident happened between West 5
th and West 6th
Streets, close to the railroad bridge over West 6th Street. The deceased subject; a 28
year old male from Crookston, was walking south on the railroad tracks, between the
rails, when he was struck from behind by a southbound BNSF train. The subject did not
respond to the warning sounds of the train horn.
The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of family.
The Crookston Police Department was assisted by Crookston Area Ambulance, the
Polk County Sheriff’s Office and the MN State Patrol
