COVID: ND school board burnout

By Doug Barrett Sep 16, 2021 | 8:23 AM

The director of the North Dakota School Boards Association says a number of local school board members have said they probably won’t seek re-election when their terms are up.

Alexis Baxley says those board members are tired.  “They’ve been asked to do a lot the last 18 months and noi matter what decisions they’ve made the criticism and controversy surrounding those decisions is never ending.”

Baxley says school board members are used to controversies. But she says the COVID-19 health protocols have heightened the conflicts. She says they’re just burned out.

Five members of the Grand Forks School Board will be up for re-election in 2022.
