
The sale of West Elementary is a done deal. The Grand Forks School board approved a plan to sell the shuttered building to Oxford Realty last night (Monday) for $150,000.
Oxford was among two developers bidding on the former school. As many as ten single family homes could be built on site.
Business Manager Scott Berge says it’s a good price. have gone for one dollar. “It will cost at least a quarter million to demolish it and there’s remediation with asbestos and utility costs which drive up the cost of the lot.”
The board agreed not to reopen the north side school in March due to mold and air quality issues.
The cost to mitigate building needs was estimated at $1.4 million dollars.
