The sale of West Elementary could net the Grand Forks School District upwards of $150,000. The school board will consider two offers generated by an RFP on Monday.
According to a staff report Oxford Realty and Dakota Commercial submitted development bids. As many as ten single family homes could be built on site. Demolition of the school could begin later this year.
The board agreed not to reopen the north side school in March due to mold and air quality issues.
The cost to mitigate the building needs at West is $1.4 million dollars.
Former students…faculty…and staff gathered at West School on August 18th for a ceremony to celebrate the history the district’s oldest elementary school.
