Saturday marks the 20-year anniversary of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
It is also the date for the official dedication ceremony of the Grand Forks Veterans Memorial Park.
The ceremony begins at 2:00 PM at South 34th Street and 24th Avenue South.
UND President Andrew Armacost will be the keynote speaker. Other speakers include Grand Forks Mayor Brandon Bochenski… Col. Timothy Curry, commander of the Grand Forks Air Force Base…and Alan Dohrmann, adjutant general of the North Dakota National Guard.
Meanwhile, Gov. Burgum has directed all government agencies to fly the U-S and North Dakota flags at half-staff on Saturday, and encourages North Dakota residents to do the same at their homes and businesses.
UND commemorated the 9-11 anniversary on Friday with a ceremony outside the new Memorial Union.
The observance was led by Armacost and UND student government leaders.
