GF COVID cases mirror rise statewide

By Doug Barrett Sep 2, 2021 | 8:40 AM

With 181 active cases of COVID-19 in Grand Forks County local health officials are voicing concern about the escalating trend line.

Altru Chief Nursing Officer Janice Hamscher says the 14-day rolling average positivity rate is the highest it’s been since April – and it show no signs of slowing down.

Hamscher says vaccination can make a difference.  “For those individuals we have seen that require hospitalization 91% of them were unvaccinated.  Today we have 10 inpatients hospitalized for COVID and only one is vaccinated.”

Hamscher says Altru is coordinating with other hospitals across the state but there is not an unlimited supply of resources.

The North Dakota Health Department reports 135 people are hospitalized across the state – 13 are in the ICU.
