EGF approves recommended mask use plan

By Doug Barrett Aug 24, 2021 | 8:28 AM

Masks will be recommended…but not mandated…when students return to school in East Grand Forks.  The masking component is part of the Safe Return to In-Person Learning Plan adopted by the school board last night (Monday).

Superintendent Mike Kolness says with two weeks until the start of classes the district is meeting daily with health officials about the latest COVID-19 data – and the plan is “fluid” and “subject to change.”

Several people spoke out against mandatory masking at the start of the meeting.  In Polk County 55% of the population age 16 and older have received at least one dose of vaccine.

In Grand Forks dozens of parents showed up at last night (Monday) school board meeting to oppose Friday’s decision requiring face coverings for the start of school on Wednesday.
