While there is currently not a mask mandate on the University of North Dakota campus things could change according to President Andrew Armacost.
The UND leader says for now he’s leaving the decision about classroom masking to individual faculty members.
Armacost says he’s been asked about requiring students to be vaccinated before coming to campus – but it’s not an option. “The vaccinations that are required in schools and at the university level is determined by the state legislature. That is in law. COVID is not an approved vaccine on that list.”
UND officials say students are generally very receptive to whatever policy is in place. There were only ten complaints on mask mandate enforcement filed with the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities last year.
