Vikings-Packers tickets offered for vaccination

By Pat Sweeney Aug 18, 2021 | 12:43 PM

Tickets to the Vikings-Packers game are being offered to entice Minnesotans into getting vaccinated for COVID-19.

Any Minnesotan 18 and older getting a vaccine outside U.S. Bank Stadium this Saturday will be able to enter a drawing for two pairs of tickets in the stadium’s premium club suite for the November home game against Green Bay.

The Vikings and the Minnesota Department of Health are holding a vaccination clinic before the Vikings’ second exhibition game Saturday against Indianapolis.

The pop-up clinic next to the stadium will be open for vaccinations from 4-to-7 PM.

The site is administering the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine and the two-dose Pfizer vaccine. Minnesotans aged 12 and older are eligible for vaccination. No game ticket is required for vaccination and walk-ups are welcome.

Gov. Walz release:

Minnesotans 18 years of age and older who receive their COVID-19 vaccine at a pop-up clinic outside U.S. Bank Stadium this Saturday will be eligible to enter a drawing for two pairs of tickets in the stadium’s Medtronic Club for the Vikings-Packers game on Sunday, November 21.

Additionally, the first 100 people who are vaccinated at the clinic will be able to choose from a variety of autographed Vikings mini helmets, regardless of age.

The Vikings and Minnesota Department of Health are hosting a vaccination clinic before the Vikings’ second pre-season game against the Indianapolis Colts. The pop-up clinic is located next to the U.S. Bank Stadium light rail station stop near Chicago Avenue, and it will be open for vaccinations from 4-7 pm.

The site is administering the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine and the two-dose Pfizer vaccine. Minnesotans aged 12 and older are eligible for vaccination. No game ticket is required for vaccination and walk-ups are welcome.

“Fall means football season, a new school year, and more opportunities to get together with family and friends. The best way to enjoy all those activities safely is to get vaccinated for COVID-19,” said Governor Walz. “Minnesotans who receive their first shot at the pop-up clinic ahead of Saturday’s Vikings game will not only enjoy strong protection from COVID-19, but they will have the chance to attend this year’s Border Battle at U.S. Bank Stadium. For Vikings fans who have waited for the vaccine, now is the time to roll up your sleeves and get your shot.”

“We’re proud to continue our partnership with the Minnesota Vikings and kickoff vaccinations at U.S. Bank Stadium. This effort will help ensure that fans are safe in the stands,” said Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan. “Thank you, Vikings, for being on Team Minnesota.”

“As we welcome back Vikings fans to U.S. Bank Stadium for home games this season, we have an opportunity to continue supporting the fight against COVID-19,” said Vikings Chief Operating Officer Andrew Miller. “These walk-up vaccination clinics are a continuation of our partnership with the State of Minnesota following the successful vaccination clinics at TCO Performance Center and U.S. Bank Stadium this offseason. We encourage unvaccinated fans attending the games or anyone enjoying the pregame festivities to participate in a walk-up vaccination and join us in the effort to eradicate this virus.”

Saturday’s pop-up event follows a successful vaccination clinic before last weekend’s Vikings game, when 37 Minnesotans received their vaccine. Minnesotans who get vaccinated at the site will have the opportunity to register for the ticket drawing at the time of vaccination. Two winners will be drawn from all entrants at the August 14 and August 21 pop-up clinics. Official rules are available at mn.gov/covid19/preseason.

The pre-season pop-up clinics continue the strong partnership between the State of Minnesota and the Vikings on COVID-19 vaccinations. During the offseason, TCO Performance Center and U.S. Bank Stadium both hosted vaccination events for Minnesotans.

In addition to the Vikings ticket drawing and helmet giveaway, any Minnesotan who receives their first dose of vaccine through August 22 is eligible for a $100 Visa gift card from the State of Minnesota. More details are available at mn.gov/covid19/100.
