After a lengthy discussion members of the Grand Forks school board last night (Monday) adopted an administrative recommendation that students and staff wear masks in school buildings – but they are not required to do so.
The issue drew a crowd with those for and against mask use addressing the board. The crowd size spilled over into an adjoining room.
The board itself was somewhat divided and raised questions about dealing with positive cases among the masked and unmasked population.
The board voted six-to-two in favor of a mask recommendation.
East Grand Forks school officials have not yet settled on a masking policy.
