The Grand Forks School Board will be asked on Monday to advance the sale of West School. The building was closed to students in February 2020 due to elevated radon levels and mold. The building was officially closed by the board in April.
After a review of the potential sale by legal counsel and consultation with the Grand Forks Historic Preservation Commission the district is ready to proceed with the formal bid process.
In a staff report Business Manager Scott Berge says the building has been cleared of all school related materials…items…and valuable equipment.
It will also be up to the board to decide whether to employ a commercial appraiser to estimate the potential value of the property.
The district is planning a celebration of West Elementary School on August 18th.
