ND health officials discuss vaccine and pregnancy

By Doug Barrett Jul 22, 2021 | 8:16 AM

Although data is limited health officials say the COVID vaccine does not appear to be a risk for women who are pregnant.

The North Dakota Department of Health hosted an “Ask a Doctor” Town Hall event on Wednesday to talk about vaccines and fertility.

Dr. Ana Tobiasz of Sanford Health in Bismarck says studies in animals found no major concerns.  “There have been animal toxicity studies on this that have shown no harm”

Dr. Stephanie Foughty of Altru Health in Devils Lake says the CDC has been following pregnant women who received the vaccine and so far so good.  “All of the information we have gathered from the tens of thousand of women that have reported data….there is no link between miscarriage and the COVID vaccine.”

According to the North Dakota Health Department 51.6% of residents 18 and older have received at least one dose of vaccine.
