An Ad Hoc committee looking at a potential new bridge location linking Grand Forks and East Grand Forks got a crash course on long-range traffic patterns with a “do-nothing” approach this week.
The focus of the study is a medium height bridge at Elks and 32nd Avenue South. M-P-O’s Earl Haugen says hydrological studies have eliminated the potential for a river crossing at 47th Avenue.
Consultants project major problems at key intersection by 2030 with a “no build” option.
East Grand Forks Council member Brian Larson is also a member of the working group. Larson says there are a lot of factors besides cost that need to be considered when selecting a bridge site.
A “live” online presentation of the data will be available to the general public next Tuesday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The committee is hoping to have a final report ready by the end of the year.
