Altru meets with DL residents to discuss future plans

The first of two scheduled listening sessions by Altru Health was held last night (Thursday) in Devils Lake.  Altru is asking D-L residents to weigh in on their future health care needs.  That includes the potential acquisition of the St. Alexius Hospital.

In announcing the public meetings Altru noted the future of local healthcare in Devils Lake is at-risk.  It references a recent move by Common Spirit to divest its hospitals in North Dakota – including CHI St. Alexius.

Altru says a locally managed hospital would serve Devils Lake well.  In this model, 100 percent of the current hospital and clinic staff would retain their jobs…the community would own their healthcare decisions…and the funds raised by the hospital would remain local.
