Hugo’s Raceway BMX track has grand opening

Two months after ground was broken, the new Grand Forks bicycle motocross track has its grand opening this (Tue) evening.  

Hugo’s Raceway — the new home of Red River BMX – is located south of the Alerus Center between 42nd Street and I-29.  

The ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6:30 PM will feature comments from local BMX broad member Danny Weigel, who is also on the city council.

Weigel said council members have long heard about the importance of activities for kids.

“This is one of those activities that was outside the city of Grand Forks, and has now been brought inside the city, and it’s now accessible for kids to be able ride over…for practice,” he said.

Weigel says local officials are trying to land a national race that would bring in 1,000 riders from 40 states. 

Races are scheduled every Tuesday and Thursday night.
