Grand Forks authorities were busy with complaints about fireworks on the Fourth of July.
Between 6 PM on July 4th and 2 AM on July 5th, Grand Forks Police responded to about two dozen calls for service regarding fireworks.
The Grand Forks Fire Department had one fireworks-related call late Sunday night. Some fireworks in the back of a pickup went off…and firefighters extinguished the fire. It’s not known how the fireworks ignited.
Meanwhile, the Fargo Fire Department responded to 15 fires on Sunday… and 12 were fireworks related.
The blazes included two grass fires, three dumpster fires, one wood chip fire and nine structure fires. Only one fire resulted in significant damage. That blazed burned out an apartment garage. Other attached garages saw smoke damage.
The fire department also helped a person who lost a thumb and finger in a fireworks explosion.
Fargo Police responded to more than 80 fireworks complaints.
