Altru is asking Devils Lake residents to weigh in on their future health care needs.  In a letter to the community Altru is seeking input on plans that include the potential acquisition of the St. Alexius Hospital.

The letter points to the recent investments made by Altru in Devils Lake adding a community owned hospital is the ideal choice as there exists an immediate need to enhance healthcare services in Devils Lake.

The statement goes on to say there is no question that the future of local healthcare in Devils Lake is at-risk.  It references a recent move by Common Spirit to divest its hospitals in North Dakota – including CHI St. Alexius – and a potential sale to Minnesota-based Essentia being called off.

The Grand Forks-based health care system is planning a series of listening sessions in Devils Lake in the coming weeks to gather additional public input..

The letter was signed by Altru President Steven Weiser…Interim CEO Dave Molmen…Stephanie Foughty who is Chair of the Altru Clinic in Devils Lake…and Manager of the Altru Devils Lake Clinic Amber Stokke.
