A two vehicle crash near East Grand Forks on Thursday sent three people to Altru Hospital.  The East Grand Forks Fire Department was dispatched to the scene about a-half mile north of the city on Highway 220 around 3:15 p.m.  When crews arrived they found a pickup and SUV with heavy front end damage and one vehicle resting on its side.  All three patients needed to be extricated.

The Minnesota Highway Patrol says a pickup driven by 20-year old Valentin Mendoza of Texas crossed the centerline.  Inside the SUV were two teens…ages 16 and 17…from Grand Forks.  The H-P says all the injuries are considered life-threatening.

The accident remains under investigation.

Responding agencies along with the East Grand Forks Fire Department are, East Grand Forks Police Department, Polk County Sherriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol and Altru Ambulance.
