Strong Thunderstorms hit the Red River Valley

A strong line of storms passed through the Red River Valley this morning bringing with it gusty winds and rain.

The National Weather Service issued Severe Thunderstorm Warnings from the Canadian Border into South Dakota.  One inch hail was reported in the Fargo area.  A top gust of 83 was clocked at LuVerne in Steele County.  Cooperstown hit 81 mph.  Grand Forks topped out at 63.  One foot diameter trees were down near Wimbledon in Barnes County.

There were also reports of scattered power outages.  Trees were damaged and power lines came down in Reynolds.

The NWS reported 1.07 inches of rain at the Grand Forks Airport as of 7:00 a.m. and .78 inches at the office in Grand Forks.

A semi tipped over on I-29 south of Hillsboro slowing traffic shortly before 6:00 a.m.
