5 hockey players join UND via transfer portal

University of North Dakota head hockey coach Brad Berry announced the addition of five student-athletes to the program on Friday. All five transfers will be immediately eligible for the 2021-22 season.

 

Zach Driscoll | G | Apple Valley, Minn. | Bemidji State

Spent the previous three seasons at Bemidji State, earning the starting nod for the Beavers in each of those years … Earned back-to-back All-WCHA selections in his final two campaigns … Posted a 21-8-4 record with a 1.63 GAA and .937 save percentage in 2019-20 to finish among the top-10 in GAA (3rd), save percentage (5th), wins (6th) and shutouts (8th) … Led the nation in 2020-21 with 767 saves … Went 15-10-3 to lead the Beavers to their second at-large appearance in the NCAA Tournament in program history … Named WCHA Goalie of the Month in March/April … Earned 10 WCHA Goaltender of the Week selections over his career … Three-time AHCA Division I Krampade All-American Scholar … Named WCHA Student-Athlete of the Year during his senior season.

 

Connor Ford | F | Pittsburgh, Pa. | Bowling Green

Played four seasons at Bowling Green, serving as the captain for his senior season … Scored 53 goals and tallied 114 points over his career as a Falcon … Scored 16 goals as a senior, tied for fifth nationally and matched the WCHA lead, and dished out 12 assists for 28 points … Led the WCHA in power play goals with six … Logged eight multi-point outings and a pair of three-point contests … Earned All-WCHA First Team honors … Registered 34 points (12 G, 22 A) during his junior season … Had a team-high 10 multi-point outings … Named to the All-WCHA Third Team … Also had 34 points on 17 goals and 17 helpers as a sophomore … Held scoring streaks of six games, five games, four games and three games over the course of the season … Scored 18 points during his freshman campaign … Named a three-time WCHA Scholar Athlete and All-Academic Team selection.

 

Chris Jandric | D | Prince George, B.C. | Alaska

Spent two seasons at Alaska, not seeing any game action in 2020-21 due to the program opting out for the season … Led all Nanook blue liners with 22 points on five goals and 17 assists as a sophomore in 2019-20 … Scored a pair of game-winning goals against Michigan Tech … Led all Nanooks in assists per game at 0.43 … Tallied 15 points in his freshman season … His 12 assists and 0.43 assists per contest led the Nanooks … Totaled eight points on the power play as a rookie … Earned WCHA All-Rookie Team honors … A two-time WCHA All-Academic Team selection.

 

Ashton Calder | F | Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. | Lake Superior State

Played three seasons at Lake Superior State, serving as an alternate captain during the 2020-21 campaign … Matched fellow newcomer, Connor Ford, with a league-best 16 goals last season … Had 29 points in 29 games to help the Lakers reach the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1996 … Scored a hat trick in the WCHA Championship Game over Northern Michigan … Named WCHA Forward of the Month for March/April … Earned All-WCHA Second Team selection … Scored 12 goals and had 28 points as a sophomore in 2019-20 … Recorded nine multi-point games … Scored 14 points in the final 12 games of the season … Ranked second amongst freshman skaters with 22 points in his rookie year … Earned All-WCHA Rookie Team honors.

 

Brady Ferner | D | Dakota Dunes, S.D. | Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute

Spent two seasons at RPI, not seeing any game action in 2020-21 due to the program opting out for the season … Played in all 34 games in 2019-20, notching eight points … One of his two goals came on the power play … Dished out four of his six helpers during conference action … Dressed in all 36 games as a rookie … Scored two goals and added a pair of assists … Named to the ECAC All-Academic Team twice … Served as a volunteer assistant coach for the Sioux City Musketeers (USHL) during the 2020-21 season … Will be the first South Dakota native to play hockey at UND since Buzz and Prince Johnson from 1947-50 (Webster, S.D.).

 

North Dakota is set to announce its incoming freshman class in the coming week.
