Cities Area Transit plans to install seven new bus shelters along University Avenue in Grand Forks this fall.
The city council is expected tonight (Monday) to approve the use of $108,000 dollars in federal funding on seven shelters – four of which fall on the UND campus. The total project price-tag is $136,000 dollars.
Transportation Division Director Dale Bergman says the shelters will have an improved look with rounded roofs…glass…digital signage and LED lighting – including the color green. The upgrade replaces structures that have been in place since 1979.
Bergman says this is the first year of a two-year project and as additional funding becomes available more bus shelters will be replaced.
