The City of Grand Forks has released an R-F-P for future recycling services. The city is looking for a 5-7 year contract with a provider at various service options. Those can range from a city-wide collection to a subscription-only plan.
In 2020 Grand Forks residents recycled 2,576 tons of material.
Mayor Brandon Bochenski says he’ll wait to see the results of the R-F-P but he would not be opposed to a subscription model.
Nearly 15-hundred people responded to a city sponsored survey on recycling. Among the results: 84% said they currently recycle….over 81% say they would support curbside recycling using a 90-gallon wheeled cart…over 80% support recycling fees on overall utility bills…27% support and 47% oppose an opt-in opt-out program…the survey also showed a need for more drop site locations.
