A mobile vaccine clinic will hit the road this summer and travel throughout Grand Forks County to provide COVID vaccine to those still needing a shot.
Michael Dulitz of the Grand Forks Health Department told members of the county commission this week that the clinic will be on a four week rotation between communities outside Grand Forks to include: Gilby…Manvel…Emerado…and Thompson. “Our goal this summer is to provide a vaccine opportunity within 10 miles for 90% of Grand Forks County residents.”
Dulitz says after a strong start to vaccination the program has hit a bit of a wall averaging only about 50 shots a day. With 90% of those age 65 and older already vaccinated Dulitz says the target group are those 12 to 64. Only 20% of the 12 to 17 year age group has received a jab in the arm.
Dulitz says in order to achieve so-called 60% herd immunity the county still needs to have around 10,000 people roll up their sleeves.
