Grand Forks Mayor Brandon Bochenski and East Grand Forks Mayor Steve Gander have called for flags to be flown at half-staff on city property on Thursday … in remembrance of the one-year anniversary of the death of Grand Forks Police Officer Cody Holte.

Bochenski and Gander also encourage residents and businesses to do the same.

Officer Holte was killed in a shootout in a south Grand Forks apartment. He was 29.

Meanwhile in Minnesota, Gov. Tim Walz ordered all U-S and Minnesota flags to be flown at half-staff at all State and Federal buildings in Minnesota, from sunrise until sunset, on Friday.

This, in honor and remembrance of 39-year-old Conservation Officer Sarah Grell, who died while on duty Monday, when a semi  struck her pickup truck in Itasca County.
