Sidewalk seating outside eateries in East Grand Forks could become more of a thing under an ordinance being crafted by the city.
The council discussed various aspects of the permit plan at last night’s (Tuesday) work session. Under a preliminary recommendation the permit would be available to all businesses – not just those located downtown. It would also be tied to hours of operation – or 10:00 p.m.
Council member Brian Larson also suggested the permit be annual – and not limited to warm weather months. “We saw the Spud Jr. was very creative with their ice houses and to build upon that this could be a 12 month permit because I would encourage that type of creative outdoor use.”
Final action on the ordinance will come at a later date.
