Authorities say a suspicious object found Tuesday morning near an Emmons County road was a pipe bomb.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol says the device — which was not found in or near any structures – was rendered safe by the Bismarck bomb squad … and turned over to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for examination.
The object was found by a state D-O-T employee performing maintenance on Highway 1804.
The origin of the device is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the State Patrol.
