Grand Forks ready for next phase of vaccinations

By Doug Barrett Mar 24, 2021 | 8:53 AM

Grand Forks health officials are getting ready to open vaccinations for coronavirus to the general public.  City Administrator Todd Feland says they will likely keep the main vaccination clinic at the Alerus Center in place through at least April.   In addition work site vaccinations for large employers are being planned.

Feland says the city is also partnering with the University of North Dakota to vaccinate as many students as possible before they leave in May.  “The other request from the university is if we could use the Johnson and Johnson one shot vaccine as a better way to capture students and not have them come back for a second shot.  So we are going to try and and save our Johnson and Johnson for UND students.”

In Grand Forks County 79% of those 75 and over have received at least one dose of vaccine….84% of those 65-74…and 25% of 18-64 year old residents have already rolled up their sleeves.
