Grand Forks motorists will have no shortage of road construction to navigate this summer.
The city council gave preliminary approval to various bids and contracts for three large projects last night (Monday). They include the $3.7 million dollar North 3rd Street reconstruction from DeMers to University Avenue. The $5.5 million dollar reconstruction of North Columbia Road from the Overpass to University Avenue. In addition Belmont Road between 55th and Rivers Edge Drive is ready for an upgrade. City Engineer Al Grasser says that project might take a little longer to complete. “There are quite a few projects being bid this year and we have heard from some local contractors that their schedules are filling up early. So on this particular project we are giving the contractor the entire season to get the work done.”
The council also approved the demolition agreement needed to pave the way for the upcoming Beacon development near the downtown area.
